The 12th annual SUMMER SMASH OPEN is organized by Players International Management (PIM), host of the YellowTennisBall.com Series. The event is held over two weekends; August 19 – 21, 2023 (Boys 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s divisions) and August 26 – 28, 2023 (Girls 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s divisions) – one of the largest USTA L4 events in the United States. Mandatory Forms: CHECK-IN & FORMS:**IMPORTANT** Please check in 20 minutes before your match time as ALL PLAYERS must submit the following and show their confirmation emails to the Site Director or they will be unable to participate (Event Release & Waiver Form and Event Contact Form). SITES. Held at multiple facilities, within 10 – 35 minutes from each other. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE SITE THAT YOU COMPETE AT (check the initials on the draws, view Site locations below)
CHECK-IN: All players must check in (in person) at the on-site Tournament Desk at least 15 minutes early. We will send your matches to the courts 10 minutes early. This is to reduce your time on-site, as well as for the daily matches to stay on schedule.

PLAYER SELECTION, FORMAT, SEEDING, ETC.
- This tournament will use the National Combined Standing List for player selection and seeding.
- Selection: August 9, 2023 Combined Standings of the NSL.
- Flights and Seeding will use the August 16, 2023 Combined Standings off the NSL.
- Players Per Draw: 64 Player Draw
- Format: All matches are best of three tie break sets with a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a 3rd set.
- Flighting process:
- 60-64 Players:
- Flights “A”, “B” and “C” will have 16 players each with “D” having 12.
- 59 players or fewer:
- Flights “A” and “B” will have 16 players. Flights “C” and “D” will split the remaining evenly. (odd number of players Flight “C” will have the additional player.
- Draws will be posted by 10:00AM on Friday August 18th so players can be adjusted to the appropriate Flights if there are withdrawals prior to draws being made.

POINTS TABLE. This tournament carries with it USTA Level 4 points per round. Please click here for the point tables and refer to the Flighted Draw table on page 7 for this tournament.
WITHDRAWALS. If there is a withdrawal after the draw has been published, the spot will be replaced by the next alternate – no matter which draw/bracket it is – if there is an alternate list.

WEATHER UPDATES. In the event of rain or lightning delays, players should return to their car. Updates will be communicated via the USTA Serve Tennis website pages (Boys Divisions, Girls Divisions). We will only change the draws times at night (not during the days if there is a weather issue).

DRAW INFO. Singles posted online by Thursday prior to the event @ 5pm. All divisions will include a 64-draw event, with a Feed-in consolation through the round of 16. Quarterfinal losers will be fed into a separate consolation draw to playoff for 5th and 6th place. Semi-final losers will playoff for 3rd and 4th place.
MATCH SCHEDULE (weather pending): Day 1: 2 singles…Day 2: 1-3 singles…Day 3: Only if we have weather issues.
COACHING: All matches that consist of 2 tiebreak sets with a 10-point match tiebreak will receive a 3-minute rest period after splitting sets. Coaching is allowed at the fence with the coach on the outside of the fence.

REST PERIOD. Minimum one hour rest between matches.
REFUNDS. Once the USTA selects the players, there are no refunds.
TRAINER LOCATIONS:
- Athletic training services provided by Baptist Health South Florida will be available at Boca West Country Club (Days 1-2), Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center (Days 1-2) and One Tennis Academy (Days 1-2). If you desire athletic training services during the event, please go to a site where a trainer is scheduled. You are still responsible to be ready to play at your scheduled match location and time.

SAFETY – HEALTH:
- Do not Play:
- If you are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus. According to the CDC, people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported—ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. These symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus: fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell.
- If you have been in contact with someone with known or suspected COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
- Follow a minimum of 6’ physical distancing (except family members) when possible.
- Everyone should wash their hands throughout the day.
- If a guest presents any symptoms of COVID-19 while on site, the guest will be asked to immediately leave the premises and seek medical advice. Emergency medical issues will continue to be handled by contacting 911.
- Be prepared to play up to 3 matches per day if there are weather issues.
PLAYERS. Come prepared with your own Hand sanitizer, Beverages/water, snacks, towels, water, and ice and store inside a tennis bag when not in use.
DURING MATCH
- Raise your Racket to get the attention of a tennis umpire.
- No Coaching is allowed.
- Maintain safe social distance between players during the racket spin at the start of a match. The umpires will try to flip a coin when we can. When we do this, we will ask the players to stand on the service line.
- Players should clearly verbalize the score at the start of each point.
- The Server should clearly call out the score loudly before every point.
COMPLETION OF THE MATCH
- Offer an acknowledgement such as a nod, thumbs up or ‘good match.’ Please do not shake hands or make contact with your opponent at the completion of the match.
- Leave the court promptly, clean up your trash and take your belongings with you.
- Pick up your used tennis balls and drop them in the used balls box at the Tournament Desk
- Upon completion of the match, and after reporting the score (winner reports the score), leave facility within 20 minutes of the completion of your match to help reduce gatherings.
SPORTSMANSHIP & ETIQUETTE:
- Good Sportsmanship is expected from a players and guests
- Players should NEVER spit on the court.
- Inappropriate and unsportsmanlike language, bullying and taunting will not be tolerated and will be coded.
- Spectators who display inappropriate behavior may be removed from the tournament area for the remainder of the tournament. Thank you for your
cooperation. - Players are NOT allowed on the other side of the net, even if invited by their opponent.
- If you need a ball mark inspection, then ask a tennis umpire for help.
- The USTA Point Penalty System, Lateness Rule and Junior Tournament Regulations are in
effect.
