The 8th annual SUNSHINE STATE OPEN (September 14 – 16, 2024) is organized by Players International Management (PIM), host of the YellowTennisBall.com Series. This USTA National sanctioned Level 3 event consists of participants in the Boys and Girls 12s – 14s age divisions. Click here to register and to view draws, results and match times. DOUBLES INFO.


The Doubles deadline is Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 @ 5pm (EST). Even if you registered with a partner online, you must still re-register by emailing the doubles pairing to [email protected].

If you have a partner (both players must agree to play with each other), please email the team (and division) to Adam Baron at [email protected] (make sure to get a confirmation email).

If we do not hear from you before the deadline date, we will NOT place you in the doubles draw. If you do not have a partner, and would like to be paired with another player, please email [email protected] (make sure you receive an email confirmation)– we will do our best to pair you with another player (with a similar ranking).

IMPORTANT:

  • Doubles takes place BEFORE their singles matches on Day 1 and possibly on Days 2 & 3…
  • Make sure to double-check your start times and site abbreviations. In addition, a player can only play doubles in the same division as they are playing singles.
  • There will be a 3/4 Doubles Playoff

      • Practice Courts:
        • Before Saturday: Call facility to reserve a court.
        • Saturday - Monday:
          • Players MAY NOT reserve courts. All courts are 1st-come, 1st-serve. Upon arrival, please check-in with the Site Director for availability.
          • No practice before 7am... 12 courts 7:10 – 8am, 1-2 courts thereafter
  • Important – Monday matches.. Boys & Girls 12s Monday matches might move to the Boca West Country Club (address below) – after each match, please ask the Site Director which location your match will take place.


 

BOYS & GIRLS 14s: BOCA WEST COUNTRY CLUB (BW) – Clay Courts (561-488-6996). 20583 Boca West Dr., Boca Raton, 33433. 

  • Directions: From I-95 Exit Glades Road (go west), thru Jog/Powerline Rd, community on right, go through guard gate, courts straight ahead on left and straight ahead (tell gate you are with the USTA Tennis Tournament).  If you have any questions pre-event, call 561.330.6003, during the event call Site Director @ 561.929.4654. 
  • Club Rules. Please follow signs for parking (important) and wear a mask if entering the Pro-Shop. Main Clubhouse is for club members only and players may congregate at the O/Brien’s upstairs anytime, and on the facility patio (only after 11am). Thank you for your understanding.
  • Practice Courts. Pre-event, do not call to reserve courts, please check in at the Pro-Shop for availability… During event (Sat. – Mon.), courts are 1st come, 1st serve (no reservations): 8+ courts (7:15 – 8am), 2 courts (8am – 6pm)….Check-in with the Site Director.


All matches might be moved to either Boca West CC on Monday – please ask the Site Director for your match locations.


ADDITIONAL PRACTICE COURTS

  • Boynton Beach Tennis Center (Clay Courts): 561-742-6575. 3111 S. Congress Ave, Boynton Beach, FL 33426. Directions: From I-95 Exit Woolbright. Head West to Congress. Turn left (going South) on Congress. Tennis club on the corner of Congress and SW 30th (on right). MUST call 24 hours in advance to reserve courts as availability is based around member bookings; PLEASE DO NOT JUST SHOW UP AT FACILITY. $8+pp up to 1.5 hours.


SAFETY & WEATHER INFO: IMPORTANT


WEATHER UPDATES / INFO. Weather updates will be sent via messages on Serve Tennis USTA Registration System.


CHECK-IN: All players must check in (in person) at the on-site Tournament Desk at least 15 minutes early. We will send your matches to the courts 10 minutes early. This is to reduce your time on-site, as well as for the daily matches to stay on schedule.


DURING MATCH

  • Raise your Racket to get the attention of a tennis umpire.
  • Maintain safe social distance between players during the racket spin at the start of a match. The umpires will try to flip a coin when we can. 
  • Players should clearly verbalize the score at the start of each point.
  • The Server should clearly call out the score loudly before every point.


COMPLETION OF THE MATCH

  • Offer an acknowledgement such as a nod, thumbs up or ‘good match.’
  • Leave the court promptly, clean up your trash and take your belongings with you.
  • Pick up your used tennis balls and drop them in the used balls box at the Tournament Desk
  • Both players report the score at the Tournament Desk.


SPORTSMANSHIP & ETIQUETTE:

  • Good Sportsmanship is expected from a players and guests
  • Players should NEVER spit on the court.
  • Inappropriate and unsportsmanlike language, bullying and taunting will not be tolerated and will be coded.
  • Spectators who display inappropriate behavior may be removed from the tournament area for the remainder of the tournament. Thank you for your
    cooperation.
  • Players are NOT allowed on the other side of the net, even if invited by their opponent.
  • If you need a ball mark inspection, then ask a tennis umpire for help.
  • The USTA Point Penalty System, Lateness Rule and Junior Tournament Regulations are in effect.




MATCH FORMAT – EVENT INFO. – DRAWS POSTED


Matches. Held at multiple facilities. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE SITE THAT YOU COMPETE AT (check the initials on the draws) & check in 20 minutes before your match time.

 

FORMAT SINGLES

  • Feed-in consolation draw through the Round of 16. Quarter-final losers will be fed into a separate consolation draw to playoff for 5th and 6th place. Semi-final losers will playoff for 3rd and 4th place
  • Singles Main Draw: Two tie-break sets with a 10-point match tie-break played at one set all (with AD-scoring).
  • Singles Consolation & 3/4 Playoff: Two tie-break sets with a 10-point match tie-break played at one set all (with NO-AD scoring).
  • For main draw and Consolation matches, if a match splits sets, there is a 3-minute rest period where players may only receive coaching from inside the fence, with the coach on the outside of the fence.


FORMAT – DOUBLES. Single elimination. 8-game Pro-set with 7-point Tiebreak at 8-games all with NO-AD scoring.

DRAW SIZE: Singles (32-draw), Doubles (16-team)

DRAWS POSTED. Singles and doubles draws posted online on Thursday prior to the event.


MATCH SCHEDULE (Weather pending)

  • Day 1: One Doubles, Two Main Draw Singles, one consolation singles
  • Day 2: Two Main Draw Singles, two consolation singles, Quarterfinal Playoff consolation, two doubles
  • Day 3: Finals & 3/4 Playoff (Main Draw), two consolation singles, Quarterfinal Playoff consolation, doubles (Finals)


REST PERIOD BETWEEN MATCHES

  • For matches consisting of a 10-point match tiebreak for the 3rd set, players get a minimum of 1 hour rest.
  • Doubles to singles, players get a min. 30 minutes rest.
  • Doubles to doubles, players get a min. 30 minutes rest.

 

TRAINER: Based at Boca West CC (BW)

STRINGING: Stringing is available at select tournament match and practice sites and at local tennis retailers. See the complete list posted wherever you are playing.

ALTERNATES

  • The order of the original alternates list will be used. Players must check-in anytime between 7:15 - 7:45am for Doubles and 8:30 - 8:50am for singles at the below sites.
    • Boys & Girls 12s (Singles) check-in at One Tennis Academy
    • Boys & Girls 14s (Singles) check-in at Boca West Country Club
  • Players that are defaulted because of lateness, will be replaced in the draw if an on-site alternate is checked in and available to play
  • On-site Alternates may be admitted into the singles (or doubles) main draw to replace withdrawing players of players matches.
