Delray
Beach, FL (January 26,
2007)—Three-time
Delray Beach ITC champion Jan-Michael Gambill has received a wild card to
play in the 15th annual event, set to begin this weekend at the
Delray Beach Stadium & Tennis Center. Also given wild cards were tennis veteran

a Bahamian who spent his teenage years in Ft. Lauderdale.
California teenager Sam
Querrey, who had accepted a wild card earlier this week, was able to enter
the main draw on his ranking when another player witihdrew, leaving tournament
director Mark Baron with three wild cards.
Gambill, who has been
rehabilitating a shoulder for the better part of a year, was the 2003 and 2001
ITC champion and also won the doubles title in ’01 with Andy Roddick. In
six years here in Delray Beach, Gambill compiled a 14-4 record and was known for
exciting, three-set tiebreaks in most of his matches.
“I’m excited to be back on
the courts playing again,” said Gambill, who has been teaching tennis at an
academy in Hawaii. “It has breathed new life into me to be playing again, no
matter what the result this week. I have amazing memories here in Delray Beach
and it’s a great place to start.”
Sweeting played No. 1
singles his freshman year at the University of Florida and then turned pro.
Russell was 1-1 in Delray Beach in 2002.
